Latest News The Equal project celebrated the success of its first set of learners at its newly established centre at 26 Leigh Street, Wigan on Thursday 26 June. Equal is a pilot project that aims to provide support and training to help promote lifelong learning and has been in operation for over five months. The project offers a free 10-week "Computers Made Easy" course to aid learning and understanding of basic computer publishing and e-mail. Its premises are bright and pleasant, creating a relaxed and friendly environment for learning. Participants are encouraged to generate a newsletter illustrating their personal experiences. No previous qualifications or experience are needed and all age groups are welcome especially the over 50's. People from the community are invited to act as learning mentors for the students involved. In return they receive mentoring training provided by Gill Sanderson from the Wigan Investment Centre.
